As one would expect, the mobility challenged population requires positioning
equipment in addition to their primary mobility base (usually a wheelchair).
Able-bodies individuals do not spend all of their time standing, but have
chairs, and other support surfaces. For many individuals needing support
when sitting, a dinning room chair or a couch will not allow upright sitting.
For these individuals, when they are not sitting in their wheelchair base, they
are in bed or lying on the floor. In order for them to sit upright, they
require special sitting chairs to allow for functional activities; such as
eating.
Sitting chairs can be on the floor, or sit in stroller base, or high-chair
base to allow access to the family dinner table. There sitting chairs,
that can be used in a high-chair base, or be converted to a car seat. In
each case they offer the individual alternative sitting positions through out
the day.
